I am writing this blog from the terrace of the Gfellalp mountain hut,
where I am sat in the sunshine, waiting for a lovely group of Danish
scouts to scamper up the mountain and join me in this little chunk of
heaven. From my not-quite-clifftop, I can see all the way down the
gasterntal valley to the kanderfirn glacier, and all the way up to the
towering mass that is balmhorn behind me.
I think it's fairly easy to say why I'm smiling; I have the best job in the world!
It
feels like only yesterday that I arrived at KISC, nervous and excited
to start my training, yet in three short weeks this beautiful,
wonderful, surprising and occasionally mental place has become my home,
and my fellow pinkies (and greenies!), my family.
Being at KISC
has maintained my faith that individuals from every country, culture,
race and religion can work together towards a better, fairer and more
tolerant world. I already know that leaving KISC in September will be
completely devastating, but I also know that be it in pink, in green,
with my own scout group or with friends and family, I will keep
returning to this permenant mini paradise for as long as possible.
All my love,
Lucy (UK)
